Scan, pay, go: App Clip self-service comes to the Apple Store app

[ad_1]

Apple is making shopping for accessories and cases in Apple Stores faster and easier than ever with a new self-service app clip powered by the Apple Store app and Apple Pay. App clips are small parts of apps that load quickly when you need them.

Some Apple stores now offer App Clips codes tucked into iPhone accessory and case bays. Simply enter and use the camera on any iPhone running iOS 14.3 or later to scan the circular code, which looks like a QR code. You will launch a barcode reader where you can scan accessories to confirm compatibility and initiate the contactless self-checkout process.

Apple Store checkout has long been the way expert shoppers skip the line, but using the feature required downloading the Apple Store app in advance and a good basic knowledge. – Apple has not promoted the ability of in-store signage. With App Clips, self-service becomes accessible to everyone at a time when contactless retail experiences are more important than ever.

If you want to try the App Clip self-service checkout at your local Apple Store, keep in mind that the feature is compatible with accessories stored on the shelves. You’ll need to contact a specialist for help with larger items like iPhones, iPads, and Macs. App clip codes have only been rolled out in select stores at this time.
