"It seemed fatal, somehow," Johansson told reporters at the Venice Film Festival on Thursday. "It happened at the right time."

The 34-year-old star rubs shoulders with Adam Driver in Netflix's "Marriage Story," about a couple – she's playing the role of actress and theater director – with an 8-year-old son who runs a bi-separation -coastal and divorce. "They would run the whole scene almost every time – it was like watching two of the best athletes competing," Baumbach said. "In many ways, it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career as a director."

"Marriage Story" will be staged at Toronto's Telluride and Film Festival before going on theatrical release on November 6th, followed by its debut at Netflix on December 6th.
