Scarlett Johansson has probably bowed out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The highly anticipated “Black Widow” hit theaters on Friday starring the 36-year-old actress as Natasha Romanoff AKA Black Widow, a super-spy known for teaming up with the Avengers.
The star has appeared as a character in nine films, including “Black Widow” and an uncredited appearance in “Captain Marvel”.
With the film now in theaters – in hopes of becoming the biggest box office success of the pandemic era – Johansson has said she is ready to hang up her hat on the franchise.

“I have no plans to come back as Natasha,” she told Fatherly in a recent interview.
“I’m really happy with this movie,” the Oscar nominee continued. “It’s a great way out for this chapter of my Marvel identity.”
Johansson’s departure makes sense, as his character perished in “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019. “Black Widow” takes place a few years ago as a runaway Natasha returns home to confront her past and a whole new enemy.
While she’s done with screen appearances, the star is ready to continue working with Marvel Studios in another way.

“I wish I could continue to collaborate with Marvel in other ways, because I think there’s just an incredible wealth of stories out there,” Johansson said. “Re-imagining this genre is something that I find very interesting.”
She added: “I think there are a lot of opportunities to tell these stories in different ways than the audience would expect.”

“Black Widow” is the first Marvel film to be released in two years due to the coronavirus pandemic. Its release was originally scheduled for the first half of 2020, but has been postponed several times.
