Scorecard of the 2019 Venice International Film Festival

This is the 2019 awards season, as Venice hosts the 76th edition of its film festival, just days before the Toronto International Film Festival, as a harbinger of the turmoil of the campaign in the weeks and months to come. This year's Venice Film Festival features several major firsts, including the very serious Joker, James Gray's Ad Astra, Noah Baumbach Wedding storyand opens The truth, from Hirokazu Kore-eda. Will these selections and other selections this year have the same cultural impact as the previous highlights of the decade in Venice, such as Roma, The shape of the water, Black Swan, or Arrival? May be Joker… if the crowd of fickle craftsmen comes to the box office.
