Seahawks exclude Chris Carson from Rams; The # 1 back inactive for the NFC West showdown

The Seattle Seahawks were unsure if they were going to have Chris Carson available for their NFC West clash with the Los Angeles Rams. Turns out Seattle won’t have its No.1 to run after all.

Carson was on the Game Day Inactive Report, so he won’t be available to the Seahawks. Carson was a game time decision over the short week as he was suffering from a lot of neck discomfort. Listed as questionable, a Sunday clash would have been better for Carson – who is Seattle’s best rusher in four games.

Carson has 54 carries for 232 yards and three touchdowns this season. Although he hasn’t played a 100-yard game, Carson is on track for 936 yards this season – which would be his third 900-yard campaign in the past four years. He finished with 13 carries for 30 yards in Sunday’s win over the 49ers, as running back Alex Collins led the way with 10 carries for 46 yards and one scoring.

With Carson unable to go, Collins is expected to be the No. 1 running back. With just three carries in the first two weeks, Collins has 13 carries for 79 yards and one touchdown during the year. The Seahawks also have Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas on the depth board as third down options.

Despite the injuries, Carson has been productive during his five seasons in the NFL. An undrafted free agent in 2017, Carson has 3,502 rushing yards – good for the NFL’s 10th in that span – and 24 touchdowns. He’s averaging 4.55 yards per carry in 49 games.
