The elimination process continues for the Seattle Seahawks and the search for the next offensive coordinator. We should make it a reality show. Do like the football version of The Bachelor (ette) and Pete Carroll hands his special playbook to his most attractive contender.
Either way, the Los Angeles Chargers and Seattle Seahawks have reportedly sought permission to question former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator and New Orleans Saints quarterbacks coach Joe Lombardi. We don’t know if the Seahawks have had this interview before because Lombardi was hired by Brandon Staley and the Chargers.
Lombardi is actually a Seattle native who went to high school at Seattle Prep on Capitol Hill. In the NFL, he served a year as a defensive assistant with the Atlanta Falcons before being hired by the New Orleans Saints in 2007. He went from offensive assistant to quarterbacks coach before moving to quit in 2014 to become the Detroit Lions offensive coordinator. Things didn’t go well there, so after his layoff in 2015 Payton brought him back as the QB coach and now he will have a second chance to be an CO, this time with Justin Herbert as quarterback.
I guess if the Seahawks interviewed Lombardi it was an immediately disqualifying statement.
New #Chargers OC Joe Lombardi: “I’m a big fan of fourth place.” According to the data, NFL coaches are generally not aggressive enough.

So it won’t be Anthony Lynn, Joe Lombardi, Mike Kafka, Shane Steichen, probably not Doug Pederson, hopefully not Adam Gase. Maybe it will be Ken Dorsey?
Stay tuned!
