Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said at the start of training camp that Aldon Smith “will get everything we’ve got, every step of the way” after an arrest during the offseason, but any future support that he will receive from the team will come from afar.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Seahawks free Black-smith. The rusher on board signed with the team as a free agent this offseason.

Suspensions for drug addiction and off-court indiscretions had kept Smith out of the NFL since 2015 before joining the Cowboys last year. He appeared in all 16 Dallas games and recorded five sacks, which was enough for the Seahawks to bring him on board in hopes of a better pass rush.

It’s unclear whether Wednesday’s decision was due to Smith’s April arrest for battery, field reasons, or some other reason, but something prompted the Seahawks to shift gears and move forward without him. .
