Sean Connery’s weapon from his first film as James Bond will be up for auction.
The deactivated Walther PP pistol is part of “Icons & Idols Trilogy: Hollywood” by Julien’s Auctions, which launches on December 3rd.
The device made an appearance in the movie “Dr. No.”

Connery’s wife and two sons said he “died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family” in the Bahamas, where he lived. His son Jason Connery said his father was “sick for some time.”

“The figure of 007 holding this gun would become the most iconic image in the James Bond franchise and one of the most recognizable pop culture references of all time,” he said. “We are honored to include his Walther PP pistol as the headliner of our auction, along with hundreds of other historical memorabilia from Hollywood’s greatest classic movies and TV series.”
The actor was in his early 30s and little known when he appeared in “Dr. No ”, based on Ian Fleming’s novel.
Condemned as immoral by the Vatican and the Kremlin, but screened in the White House for Bond fan John F. Kennedy, “Dr. No ”was a box office success and launched a franchise that has long survived its Cold War origins.
Connery continued as Bond in “From Russia With Love”, “Goldfinger”, “Thunderball”, “You Only Live Twice” and “Diamonds Are Forever”, often performing his own stunts.

The star kept his promise not to play Bond again until 1983, when he was drawn to a quirky storyline of a middle-aged 007. Connery took on the role and helped produce the film. The result is “Never Say Never Again”, a title suggested by his wife, Micheline Roquebrune.
The Oscar winner has had a decades-long career in Hollywood and has lived abroad for many years.
Connery is survived by his wife, brother Neil and sons Jason and Stefan. Her press secretary Nancy Seltzer said there would be a private ceremony followed by a memorial service once the coronavirus pandemic is over.
