Sean Desai receives praise as new defensive bear coordinator

The Chicago Bears have found their new defensive coordinator in Sean Desai, who has been Chicago’s safety coach for the past two seasons. He’s been with the Bears since 2013, where he was a quality control assistant.

The Bears ultimately decided to promote from within rather than look elsewhere, which not only allows them to avoid a defensive staff overhaul, but also gives them a rising young star and the opportunity to lead a talented defense.

Desai has already received a ton of praise. Here’s what people in the league, including former players, the media and even Matt Nagy, have to say about Desai’s promotion to Defensive Coordinator.

The Bears head coach released a statement about promoting Desai, in which he said there was no one “more worthy to lead our defense” than Desai.

“We are very lucky and excited to promote from the inside and to announce that Sean Desai has been appointed defensive coordinator for our football team,” Nagy said in a statement. “He’s a very smart football person, extremely detail-oriented, has a very strong work ethic and I can’t think of anyone more worthy to lead our defense.

“Sean is a very strong family man and the respect he has in our building from the coaches, players and staff is unparalleled.

Acho had a lot of praise for Desai, which had a lot to do with his involvement with Fangio over the years. He was essentially “Fangio’s right hand man” for four years and “helped fabricate the defense to greatness.” Which certainly bodes well for Chicago in 2021.
