Search warrants executed as part of a California fire investigation

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (CA) – Authorities are issuing search warrants to the California company, which owns the scuba diving boat that caught fire and killed 34 people last week.

Santa Clara county sheriff Lieutenant Erik Raney said the warrants executed on Sunday were part of the ongoing investigation into the tragedy being waged by local and federal authorities. He added that authorities were searching Truth Aquatics' offices in Santa Barbara and the two remaining company boats.

Thirty-four people died when Conception burned and sank before the dawn of September 2. They slept in a dormitory narrowed under the main deck and their emergency exits were blocked by fire.

The bodies of all but one victim have been found. The search for the latest victim was suspended until later this week due to high winds and rough seas.
