Season of legends is a new Pokémon GO Season, from March 1 to June 1, 2021. Season of Legends celebrates the legends of Pokémon GO, including new Legendary Pokémon and Legendary Trainers.

At the time of writing, Niantic has shared an introductory blog post announcing the new season. More details will be added to this guide after March 1 and after more data is collected.


New Legendary and Mega Raids

This season will begin with Legendary Pokémon making their Pokémon GO debut –Therian Tornado Form, Therian Forme Thundurus, and Therian Forme Landorus!

Special search exclusive to the season

Towards the start of the season, all trainers will be able to access the Season of Legends Special Research. Follow Professor Willow as he makes some exciting discoveries about Therian Forme Tornadus, Therian Forme Thundurus, and Therian Forme Landorus, the first three Legendary Pokémon featured during this season. Complete this special research to earn Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus candies as well as other rewards.

New mega raids

From March 1st different mega-evolved Pokémon will appear in mega raids, and other mega-evolved Pokémon will make their Pokémon GO debut during the season. Keep ear for more details soon, Trainers!


New wild spawning grounds

Over the seasons, different types of Pokemon will appear in different habitats in the wild!

For example, you might find Mantine or Frillish spawning near water, or maybe you’ll stumble upon a Voltorb or Glameow in town! If you cross near grassy and wooded areas, you might find Hoppip floating peacefully in the air.

These Pokémon and many more will appear in the wild more often, so stay tuned and stay tuned for more details!

Pokémon exclusive to the hemisphere

During this season, the types of Pokémon that most often appear in the wild exclusively in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere will be significantly expanded from the final season (Celebration Season)!

Northern hemisphere

In the Northern Hemisphere, you may encounter the following Pokémon in the wild:

  • Increase in wild spawning: Tangela, Combee, Croagunk, Ducklett and many more
  • Starters from the Sinnoh region: Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup
  • Rare encounters: Scyther, Dratini and Cottonee
  • Seasonal form: Spring deer

Southern hemisphere

  • Increase in wild spawning: Mankey, Yanma, Buizel, Woobat and many more
  • Starters from the Sinnoh region: Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott
  • Rare encounters: Pineco, Bagon and Ferroseed
  • Seasonal form: Fall shape deer

New Pokémon in Eggs

Different Pokémon will hatch from all egg groups, regardless of which hemisphere you live in. The table below is not definitive and contains only the information initially published.


Bonuses and items

You can expect even more goodies this season, such as the following bonuses and items:

  • Players can receive increased XP from five-star raids throughout this season only.
  • Free remote raid passes will be available at certain times of the season. Stay tuned for more details on when these Remote Raid Passes will be available in the store!

Throughout the season, you will have even more opportunities to be legendary! March Community Day, GO Battle League Season 7, all-new events and more to come. You can also expect a series of events towards the end of the season that are sure to be legendary.
