SeaWorld, Busch Gardens Reveal 2020 Coasters

Orange County, Florida. – SeaWorld Entertainment has revealed more details about the two glass mountains coming to its Florida theme parks in 2020.

  • SeaWorld Orlando Ice Breaker will reach a speed of 52 mph
  • The Tampa Iron Gwazi will become the highest hybrid coaster in North America
  • The two mountains are open in the spring

The new SeaWorld Orlando train will be called "Ice Breaker", while Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will be called "Iron Gwazi".

Ice Breaker will feature up to four launches, sending runners forward and backward at a top speed of 52 mph. The theme of the Polar Ice Trek will go right next to SeaWorld's Wild Arctic exhibit. And with a height requirement of 48 inches, the coaster will be able to provide thrills for children.

Ice Breaker is expected to open in the spring.

Iron Gwazi will be the highest hybrid roller coaster in North America at Busch Gardens in Tampa. Selling at 20 meters, the coaster will also be the fastest and steepest hybrid in the world.

A revamped version of the park's Gwazi wooden roller coaster, Iron Gwazi will put riders to the test as well as upside down, reaching a speed of 76 mph.

"Iron Gwazi is the evolution of a classic wooden roller coaster into a modern icon," said Stewart Clark, president of Busch Gardens. "A new legend is emerging from the original Gwazi bones, reaching heights and speeds faster, offering the sensations of a higher level that our roller coaster fans are thirsty and expect from Busch Gardens."

In addition, Iron Gwazi will offer a 91-degree drop.

The new coasters are part of the company's strategy to open new attractions every year in its park.

In fact, SeaWorld is also opening new attractions in its Tampa Water Park. Adventure Island iwll will host the Solar Vortex attraction in the spring. Solar Vortex, the first double-rotation water slide in the United States, will guide runners through multi-colored slides to 20 miles per hour.

Over the past two years, SeaWorld has opened a Sesame Street themed space, Infinity Falls raft tour in Orlando and Tampa's two-speed tiger.
