Secretly flip your father’s things in Arcade Paradise

You know how it is with children. You go on vacation and the next thing you know is that they’ve turned your bankrupt small business into a nightlife business. Classic ’80s teen movie stuff, that. In Arcade Paradise, you’ll help Ashley do just that while her father Gerald is off to the Riviera, who is voiced by none other than Doug Cockle of Geralt of Rivia fame. More than just a collection of cabinet classics, according to Nosebleed Interactive, Arcade Paradise will let you manage the laundry transition from an old hole in the wall to a burgeoning hot spot.

I admit I wasn’t too drawn to the name Arcade Paradise at first, but the reveal trailer piqued my interest. I wasn’t an arcade kid myself, but that old phone ringtone never fails to catch my ear. That, and the voicemail from Ashley’s dad, Gerald, made me think there’s more here than your usual management. Apparently it’s really Doug Cockle’s voice, but I would never have guessed it on my own. Gerald is far from a witcher, that’s for sure.

The story behind the arcade screen is that Ashley is working at a dead end in her father’s laundry room, doing all the trash chores one gets stuck with. In fact, Andreas Firnigl, CEO of Nosebleed, explains on Wired Direct, there are a few old arcade machines in the back room that actually make more money than the laundromat itself.

With this knowledge in hand, Ashley goes from the trash to picking up the money. “Stay ahead of your dad, manage and invest the profits, and build your own Arcade Paradise,” Nosebleed says. Of course, these are arcade machines so you can play arcade games. Firnigl says there are over 35 arcade games to play between your tasks.

Firnigl mentions during the livestream that the game has its roots in her own memories of spending money on lunch in dark old arcades in the early ’90s. Nosebleed clearly shamelessly pursues those last century vibes between the hit jukebox. ’90s and the dial-up computer connection they mention on the game’s Steam page.

Nosebleed Interactive says Arcade Paradise will launch on Steam this year. You can also find it on PS4 and PS5, Xbox One / X / S and Nintendo Switch.
