Pokémon GO has announced one of the most exciting updates ever to the game, with news of a new event to celebrate Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle which includes return not only Jessie and James in Team GO Rocket Balloons, but for the very first time, Bright celebi!

We are delighted to announce that the latest Pokémon movie, Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, be there soon! To celebrate the upcoming release, starting Monday, December 14, 2020, Jessie and James will return to Pokémon GO, and you can meet Shiny Celebi by completing special limited-time research! You can expect plenty of other movie-inspired in-game content as well!
The event will start on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. local time, with a variety of different small events that happen once this event begins!

Instead of Professor Willow, Jessie and James have resumed your research and will guide you through this special research story! Prepare for trouble and double it for this research! For the very first time, we have a Shiny Mythical Pokémon released by Special Research, with a brilliant encounter guaranteed. Shiny Celebi is a gorgeous pink color, and with a brilliant encounter guaranteed, that’s a major hype!
Jessie and James come back
Jessie and James will return in their Meowth balloon For a limited time! It seems they have received different Shadow Pokémon of Team GO Rocket that the last time the pair appeared in the world of Pokémon GO. Stay tuned for updates on Jessie and James leaving.

Explore Pikachu Event
Departure From Monday, December 14, 2020 at 8 a.m. to Monday, December 21, 2020 at 10 p.m.. local hour Explorer Pikachu will appear in Pokémon GO for the first time! It will appear both in the wild and raiding, and if you’re lucky, you may meet a Brilliant Explorer Pikachu!
With this event, different Pokémon will appear in the wild, in raids and in eggs, and we will see Shiny steering wheel released!
Rufflet has been an incredibly rare encounter so far, so this might just be the perfect opportunity to add him to your Pokédex.
- Hoothoot, Nuzleaf, Drilbur, Cottonee, Dwebble, etc. will appear more frequently in nature. If you’re lucky, you might meet a Durant! Durant is available as a gloss.
- Lickitung, Mawile, Flygon, Rufflet and many more will appear in Raid Battles.
- Igglybuff, Smoochum, Elekid, Magby, Bonsly and Rufflet will hatch from Eggs at 5 km.
- If you’re lucky, you might even find a Shiny steering wheel!

Jessie and James Meowth Mini Balloon Event
Sure December 25, 2020, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Local time Jessie and James’s Meowth’s balloon will appear more frequently! Be sure to take this opportunity to challenge the duo and battle their new Shadow Pokémon.
As Koffing and Ekans, their previous Shadow Pokémon, were available in their shiny forms, we hope their new Shadow Pokémon will be too!
Conclusion
This series of events to celebrate Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle is a very big deal! A guaranteed mythical brilliant, as well as the opportunity to get a second Celebi is huge.
Many of the Pokémon featured in the event have shiny variants, and we also have the introduction of Shiny Rufflet for the first time. Baby Pokémon in 5km Eggs is a great time to grind those rare brilliants that aren’t always included in the egg basin.
And on top of all that excitement, Jessie and James are returning with potentially new Shiny Shadow Pokémon too! Craze!
