A tired Walmart employee made sure her bosses knew she was done – quitting in an unrestricted announcement over the Louisiana store’s speaker.
Beth McGrath’s Facebook video of her unorthodox resignation has now gone viral, with over 160,000 views and growing.
“Watch out for buyers and Walmart associates, my name is Beth from electronics,” McGrath said through the store’s public address system.
“I have worked at Walmart for almost five years and can say that everyone here is overworked and underpaid,” she said.
“The attendance policy is bulls-t. We are treated to [sic] management and customers hurt every day, ”she said. “Whenever we have a problem with this, we are told that we are replaceable.
“I’m tired of the constant gas lighting,” McGrath continued. “This company treats its elderly associates like s – t. For Jarred, our store manager, you’re a pervert. Greta and Kathy, shame on you for treating our associates the way you do. I hope you don’t talk to your families like you talk to us.
“Fk management and fk this job,” she said. “I quit.”
McGrath posted the video on Tuesday and then thanked Facebook users who responded, saying she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support.
“I never intended the video to explode like it did,” she said in a new post. “It’s been an emotional roller coaster for me and I’m just at a loss for words.
“I didn’t record the video for the weight,” she said. “I recorded the video for my coworkers, to let them know that I love them and want the best for them. I wanted to be their voice, I wanted to be my voice.
“I am overwhelmed with the support from everyone,” McGrath said. “If I had one piece of advice it would be to say, don’t be afraid to say your peace, even if it tears you apart first.”
