The Foo Fighters were among the performers of the Celebrate America special concert Wednesday, which capped the inauguration events of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The band performed their 2002 One by one hit “Times Like These,” which Dave Grohl dedicated to “steadfast teachers” who continued their call to educate the country’s youth, despite the pandemic’s threat to their health and safety and that of their loved ones.

The group was introduced by Kindergarten teacher Mackenzie Adams who received a special shout from the leader. “Mackenzie Adams reminds me of another exceptional teacher who holds a very special place in my heart. My mom, Virginia, who taught in a public school for 35 years, ”Grohl said. “Like Mackenzie and Dr. Jill Biden, she was also a mentor to her students, who are remembered long after graduation.

“This year, our teachers have faced unprecedented challenges,” he concluded before the Foo Fighters performed the song. “But thanks to their dedication and creativity, they faced these challenges. So this next song is for Mackenzie and all of the steadfast teachers who continue to enlighten the children of our country every day.
