Three, two, one: jammons.

dropped the first photos of his live-action adaptation of “Cowboy Bebop” on Monday, and fans of the anime classic topped Twitter TWTR,
+ 2.58%
and Google GOOGL,
+ 1.90%
trends as they rave or lament the success with which the actors have embodied the beloved pictorial characters.

The space western based on the cult 1998 animated series by Shinichirō Watanabe follows three bounty hunters – Spike Spiegel (played by John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir) and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) – who hunt down the most dangerous criminals of the solar system. “But they can only get out of so many fights before their past finally catches up with them,” notes the synopsis of the Netflix show.

Fans got their first glimpse of frontman Spike, co-pilot Jet, and fellow bounty hunter Fay online Monday, and each of Netflix’s tweets quickly racked up thousands of likes and retweets, bringing in “Cowboy Bepop” and the actor Cho to follow the trend throughout the day. However, conspicuously absent from the first images, there was no sign of the hacker character Edward, aka “Radical Ed”.

Many have been delighted with the appearance of the three main characters, so far.

However, some weren’t convinced that an animated classic really needed to be adapted into a live-action series.

But if there’s one thing almost everyone agrees on, it’s that the playing puppy Ein – a super smart Pembroke Welsh Corgi who is also part of the Cowboy Bepop team – looks pretty perfect.

“Cowboy Bebop” is often seen as a series of gateways to get people into anime. There are 26 episodes of the original show that aired in Japan between 1998 and 1999, and “Cowboy Bebop” was also released in two manga series around the same time. Here’s a look at the opening theme of the original anime.

The series is set to debut worldwide on Netflix on November 19.
