Syracuse, New York – The city of Syracuse and some suburbs will be in a restrictive “orange zone” due to high rates of coronavirus, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today. In addition, state officials expanded the boundaries of the “yellow zone” they established in Onondaga County earlier this month.
The Orange Zone includes parts of Syracuse, Solvay, DeWitt and Lyncourt, Cuomo said at a press conference in New York.
According to the new zone map, large suburban areas around Syracuse have been added to the yellow zone. Among them: much of the town of Manlius, including the villages of Fayetteville and Manlius; a large DeWitt band, including Jamesville, as well as portions of Pompey and LaFayette; a large part of the towns of Geddes, Camillus and Onondaga; most or all of the city of Cicero.
It can be difficult to know from the map which addresses are in each area, especially at the boundaries. Eventually, you will be able to search for each address in the state’s online search tool. However, this afternoon the tool had not been updated with the latest information.
State and county officials have yet to release lists of affected school districts and municipalities. As soon as this information is available, syracuse.com will publish it.
