Sega Yakuza Producer Would Make ‘Completely Different’ Sonic Game, If Given The Chance

Sonic’s 30th anniversary is approaching next year, so how could Sega potentially keep this longtime series fresh? What if it was to put it back to Yakuza series producer, Daisuke Sato …

In an official Sega interview recently, Sato was asked which Sega IP he would like to work on and which he has never touched before. His answer – Sonic the hedgehog. If given the chance, the industry veteran says he would likely find a “completely different” type of Sonic game. Here is his full answer:

“This is an IP address that I haven’t gotten to before. In the sense that I want to try it, … well, Sonic. After all, when you hear Sega you think of Sonic. least get involved once. But for me the so-called Sonic is, well, if I had to do it, I wouldn’t make Sonic the way he was. I’d like to make a completely different Sonic. “

Sato most recently worked on Yakuza: like a dragon and has been credited in the past on various other Yakuza games, projects like the Super monkey ball series and even F-Zero GX and AX as director of scenography.
