All 180 episodes of the beloved ’90s sitcom Seinfeld recently stumbled across Netflix. However, fans notice that some jokes don’t translate as well as before. Thanks to the streamer updating a show shot in 4: 3 to 16: 9, the frame is cropped, leaving aside some important visuals.
Social media is talking about the viewing experience, with many reporting specific instances on the show where the crop ratio is worst. One example that comes up a lot is the season 8 episode “The Pothole”. In one particular scene, George Costanza (Jason Alexander) screams on the sidewalk. But, with the update, what exactly it screams is missing.

This isn’t the first time this kind of issue has arisen for an iconic show. The simpsons suffered a similar fate when all episodes started airing on Disney +, but ultimately the situation was resolved.
Netflix promoted SeinfeldGoes to stream with a new commercial featuring comedian Jerry Seinfeld and Bryan Cranston character Tim Whatley, set on a Lego set, based on Seinfeld’s apartment. All episodes are currently available for streaming.
