Walgreens will begin delivering coronavirus vaccines at 300 locations in North Carolina.

More than 31,000 doses of the vaccine will be given to eligible people from February 12.

Walgreens has been selected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the United States Department of Health and Human Services to provide vaccines in 15 states and jurisdictions under the federal retail pharmacy program.

The CDC selected states and jurisdictions for the program to help increase access to vaccines in medically underserved areas and areas with high social vulnerability scores, which are the potential negative effects on communities caused by external stresses on human health. The CDC will allocate a certain amount of vaccine to Walgreens at each location.

“Walgreens was one of the first pharmacies to begin administering COVID-19 vaccines in December to staff and residents of long-term care facilities, and we look forward to leveraging our experience to help the federal government and the CDC to expand access to these vaccines, ”John Standley, president of Walgreens, said in a statement.

Once immunization appointments are available, people should go to the Walgreens website to schedule them. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
