Prime Minister Justin Trudeau urges Canadians to take Covid-19 “very seriously because the numbers continue to go in the wrong direction.”
He added: “Our fight against this virus is not over, although we prepare to say goodbye and good riddance until 2020.”
Speaking at a press conference Friday, Trudeau said, “Canadians are good enough to get through long and harsh winters, and it will be longer and harder than we are even used to.
Frontline workers in Canada started getting vaccinated earlier this week.
“Getting a vaccine, in a week or a month, won’t do you any good if you catch Covid-19 today,” he added.
Speaking in French, Trudeau called on Canadians across the country to stay indoors, wear masks and continue to distance themselves during the holiday season.
“Christmas won’t be the same this year, but it will always be an opportunity for us to be with a loved one, physically or virtually,” Trudeau said.
“Just like this spring, summer and fall, we will continue to be there for you. We will support you every step of the way, ”Trudeau promised. “We will act as a government, whatever it takes, as long as it takes to keep you safe and supportive. We are entering the final miles of this crisis, and we cannot give up now.
