Senator Blackburn denounces media, big tech and Democrats as “in cahoots” on critical race theory

Senator Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., Lambasted the mainstream and Big Tech media for being “in cahoots” with Democrats to advance critical race theory in schools in an interview with Fox News.

Blackburn said she and parents in Tennessee feared children were “brainwashed” by Critical Race Theory, the controversial program that partly teaches students that American institutions are inherently racist.

“I have to tell you that their concern is that there is an indoctrination angle to this and that they want their children to be color blind,” Blackburn said. “They want their kids to look at people with the character content of the person, who that individual is with. And they’re… very concerned that there is a line of approach in CRT programs that will say that someone is the oppressor, and someone is a victim, because they want children to see people as friends, co-workers, and people with whom they can have productive relationships. “

And the media, she said, are on board. MSNBC and CNN have relentlessly pilloried criticism of the CRT in recent weeks.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid has been particularly vocal in her shame of CRT opponents. She invited Christopher Rufo, principal investigator at the Manhattan Institute and enemy of the CRT, on her show in June, to interrupt and even insult her on several occasions, while on Twitter she defended the CRT by claiming that schools Americans are already teaching “a kind of Confederate racial theory”. Media like The Intercept have highlighted the skin color of CRT critics, writing that they were “mostly white” parents fighting against the program and “storming” school board meetings. But education officials who spoke to Fox News rebuffed the idea that people of color aren’t equally preoccupied with reductive philosophy.

“I’ve seen a number of black parents at school board meetings say they don’t want any part of this,” wrote Deroy Murdock, Fox News contributor, who wrote widely on CRT, said.

“We are deeply concerned that the NEA, the largest union in the country representing more than 3 million school teachers, is proposing to” fight the anti-critical rhetoric of racial theory (CRT) by collecting and publishing information on opponents of the CRT, ”the letter reads.
