The second amendment should be respected in the same way as all other constitutional rights, according to Senator John Kennedy.

In response, Ocasio-Cortez said that people likely to lend their weapons to Crenshaw in this situation "would have probably mistreated their spouse."
"Why are you lending weapons to unsupervised people who can not pass a basic background check?" she asked. "… why the hell would you do that?"
