Senator John Kennedy claims that “ redistribution and race underlie the Democratic Party pushed to the left by Sanders, AOC

Senate Judiciary Committee member John Kennedy, R-La., Told “Hannity” on Tuesday that the Democratic Party was unrecognizable from even the recent party.

“Here’s what I learned from last night,” Kennedy told host Sean Hannity, reflecting on opening night of the Democratic National Convention. “Vice President Biden may be the party’s candidate, but Bernie Sanders is the party leader, that’s clear.

“And really, what Senator Sanders has done is breathtaking,” Kennedy added. “Him and the congresswoman [Alexandria] Ocasio-Cortez lifted this group up and moved it to the left [so] I barely recognize him. “

Kennedy himself left the Democratic Party in 2007 to become a Republican, once noting to Roll Call that Democrats have long abandoned the concept of government “to protect[ing] people and don’t run[ing] their lives.”

“Their message to America now is, ‘Finish school, find a job and work hard so that we can take the money you earn and give it to someone who hasn’t,” ” he told Hannity. “Redistribution and race underlie all of their policies and I do not recognize this Democratic Party.”

Kennedy also expressed surprise that the DNC gave former President Bill Clinton a niche despite his track record of allegations of sexual misconduct and impeachment, which stemmed from his affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

“I don’t want to disrespect him, he was President of the United States, but I was very surprised that they kept President Clinton on schedule,” the senator said. “I don’t know what that means. Does that mean we’re not doing #MeToo anymore or he’s just hanging out for the night? I hope not. I don’t mean to disrespect, but the President Clinton has – how do I say it? He is very selective in the reality that he accepts. “
