The Democrats rejected Trump's plan even before it was announced, indicating a dizzying ascent to Congress. The leader of the Senate minority, Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., Said Thursday that the plan "is not a serious attempt at immigration reform".
Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Called Trump's plan a "deadly project" and "not to be a very serious proposal".
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., Said Trump's proposal was "based on a set of falsehoods aimed at allowing only immigrants from certain countries or favored backgrounds".
"If you're serious about a solution for immigration, not just about the issue of immigration, the president's plan is a great starting point," said Scott, RS .C., Friday, in "Fox & Friends".
He said it was clear that a merit-based system would be beneficial for the country, and he called on the Democrats to "come to the table and negotiate".
Facilitator Brian Kilmeade questioned Scott about the immigration bill proposed by Senator Lindsey Graham, RS.C, which would end Central America's asylum applications. at the border and return unaccompanied minors to their home country – a targeted effort to cope with the growing migration crisis.
