Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas is fighting over besieged actress Gina Carano who was fired from Disney + series “The Mandalorian” for controversial social media posts.
Carano has been criticized and continues to be watched on social media for an article in which she compared the current political divide to events in Nazi Germany.
The 38-year-old actress played Cara Dune in the popular Disney + series and Lucasfilm confirmed in a statement Wednesday that she is “not currently employed” by the company and “there are no plans for” his return “in the future”.
Carano’s ousting caused both praise and anger among “Star Wars” fans. Those who sided with the actress have changed the hashtag #CancelDisneyPlus on Twitter. But Cruz suggested on Thursday that the streaming service was wrong to let her go.

Cruz’s tweet received its own attention from critics and supporters.
“She’s great! Good for her for speaking out! And the censorship continues. Freedom of expression has disappeared”, one person tweeted to Cruz.
“Where have all our freedoms gone? Sad days for us patriots,” replied another account.
Others felt that Carano’s comments were not defensible and criticized Cruz’s defense.
“My goal in life is never to do anything that allows Ted Cruz to defend me”, a criticized user.
“Probably the Holocaust stuff they canceled it for, Ted,” another wrote sarcastically.
One person argued, “The problem isn’t with her character, who kicked…. The problem is with the actor, who has expressed horrific opinions that his employer doesn’t want to be associated with.

Carano’s controversial post read: “The Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors … even by children. Lucasfilm confirmed on Wednesday that Carano was “ not currently employed ” by the company which has plunged “ Mandalorian ” fans into an online frenzy.

A second post from Carano contained a photo of a person wearing cloth masks to cover their face and head with the caption: “Meanwhile in California”. Variety reported that both posts were removed from their Instagram on Wednesday afternoon.
Others remained, however, including one who reportedly read: “Waiting until everyone you meet to agree with every belief or point of view you have is wild f-king,” as well as another who said, “Jeff Epstein didn’t kill himself.”

Cruz is not the only high profile person to react to the Carano controversy.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn appeared to endorse the “The Mandalorian” actress’ online bashing by liking a tweet that defended her and hit Carano. The tweet he “liked” on the platform read, “Oh damn, don’t drag @JamesGunn into this unfortunate topic,” wrote by entrepreneur Olga Kay.

Other Carano advocates have pointed to various examples of hypocrisy, from a tweet from his “Mandalorian” co-star Pedro Pascal who compared Nazi concentration camps to housing for American migrants to ongoing business connections. Disney with China even as the Beijing government imprisons Uyghur Muslims in concentration camps. The studio even thanked officials in Xinjiang province, where the camps are located, in the end credits of “Mulan”.
