In total, the examinations cover 17 disciplines in First class and 15 in Terminale class. For First Class, Latin, Greek, French, History, Geography, Mathematics, English, German, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Arabic, Italian, Citizenship and Human Rights, Physical Sciences, Science of life and earth, physical education and sports. And to be nominated for the General Competition the pupil must have a grade point average of at least 12/20 and an average of at least 14/20 in the chosen discipline.

For this year's edition, the Minister pointed out that, in accordance with Order No. 003735 of February 20, 2018, which reformed the General Competition, the thresholds for the awarding of various distinctions are as follows: 1st prize: required mark greater than or equal to 16/20, 2nd prize: mark required up to 15/20 and 3rd prize: required mark greater than or equal to 14/20. For the accessits, the 1st must have a required mark greater than or equal to 13/20 and the 2nd, a required mark greater than or equal to 12/20.
