Less than 24 hours after winning the world title, Didier Deschamps and his players made their comeback in France. From their landing at Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle until their arrival at the Elysée Palace, the Blues were able to take the measure of the incredible popular enthusiasm they aroused.
They had left France on June 9, the day after a draw without much relief against the United States (1-1). Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappé and all their teammates made their comeback in France on Monday, July 16th, with a world cup in their luggage. Leaving Moscow at midday, the Tricolores landed on the tarmac at Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle airport around 17:00 (an hour late on the schedule initially announced). A red carpet had been unfolded for the occasion.

On the Fields, Communion with the Public
Players of the France team then changed, then took a seat in the bus to take them to Paris. All along the way, their bus was escorted by a large police force … as well as by many supporters, who formed a long procession of two wheels. Once arrived in the heart of the capital, the Blues are mounted in a double-decker bus. Then came the moment that everyone was waiting for, namely the parade on the Champs Elysées. Hugo Lloris and others were able to wield the trophy in front of an impressive crowd, massed on the balustrades and firmly determined to cheer its heroes. To top it off, the famous avenue was overflown by the patrol of France.

At the Elysee, Pogba made the show
At the end of this ( too short?) moment of communion, the players and the French staff joined 55, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore, where they were expected by Emmanuel Macron. The world champions took the pose on the steps of the presidential palace before heading to the gardens, where a "garden party" was to be held in the company of members of the government, a thousand children and various guests, mainly from the sports sphere. The President of the Republic delivered a speech of thanks, then left the microphone to Paul Pogba, who made the show. And it was probably only the starting point of a crazy evening …
