Dakar, July 12 (APS) – The Minister of Industry and Small and Medium Industries, Mustapha Diop, announces having signed a transfer order of $ 250 million for the start of feasibility studies for agropole sud, an agricultural transformation project initiated under the Senegal Emergent Plan (PSE)


"This (Thursday) morning, when I left my office, I signed a transfer order from a mountain of 250 million CFA for the start of the feasibility studies of the southern agropolis ", he said, Thursday in Dakar, during a workshop devoted to the review of the intermediate results on the technical and financial structuring of the southern agropolis

This agricultural transformation project will be focused for the moment on the lack and cashew nut sectors.

According to the Deputy Director General of the Monitoring and Evaluation Office of the PES, Babacar Gningue, the objective of this workshop is to present the project, so that the State can bear it financially in its infrastructure part, until the private sector start its implementation "from the year 2019."

According to him, the private companies mobilized for this project have for this purpose "displayed an intention to invest nearly 56 billion FCFA in this agropolis".

Similarly, "he expects the State an investment of 11 billion CFA, as well as incentives" to allow private investors to "make their business plan not only profitable, but also to ensure attractiveness of this agropolis in southern Senegal, "continued Mr. Gningue.

With 67 billion investment, it is expected from this project "nearly 8,700 jobs and nearly 33,000 tons of mangoes", as well as "53 thousand tons of cashew nuts to transform," said Babacar Gningue. 19659003]

The southern agropolis, which will have a total of 18 projects, will be located in the municipality of Adéane (Ziguinchor) whose mayor has already made available to the project a perimeter of 500 ha, said Mr. Gningue .

He informed that two other agropolises will be built in central and northern Senegal, also under the PSE.
