XALIMANEWS: Senegal's Enterprise Upgrade Office (MNB) announced on Wednesday that it has approved investments in the order of 1, 2 billion CFA francs to 18 companies in southeastern Senegal, which will benefit from premiums of 551 million CFA francs.
Companies receiving bonuses have been validated by a restricted steering committee as part of a program to support the creation and development of small and medium-sized enterprises.
The 18 beneficiary companies are specialized in sectors such as catering, agriculture, market gardening and bakery.
"To qualify for these bonuses, all you need to do is meet the eligibility requirements. It's about being in a productive business sector that creates added value for a fairly large turnover, "explained the executive director of the BMN at a convention signing ceremony with the 18 companies concerned.
Ibrahima Diouf said that the amount of turnover of each company beneficiary must not exceed 500 million CFA francs, because the program is for small and medium enterprises.
"The BMN wants to support these companies so that they are more productive and fight against the root causes of illegal immigration in the southeastern region of the country," Diouf said.
This initiative is part of the program "Developing employment in Senegal, strengthening the competitiveness of companies and employability in departure areas", funded by the European Union with delegation from the French Agency of development (AFD).
With a global budget of 26 billion CFA francs, of which 7.7 billion for the upgrading of enterprises, the program invests in the training and professional integration of young people in the regions of Ziguinchor, Kolda, Sedhiou, Tambacounda, Saint -Louis, Louga and Matam. It is planned for a duration of 4 years (2017-2020).
According to Diouf, about 1, 9 billion CFA francs of investment and 934 million bonuses have been granted to 26 companies since the start of the program in the southeastern zone, according to a press kit.
