(Cio Mag) – This is an old project that involves the unbundling of the incumbent's local loop. But the time has finally come and it will be this Tuesday, July 10th. This is the date chosen by the Regulatory Authority for Telecommunications and Posts (ARTP) of Senegal for the launch in the presence of several players in the IT sector including Internet Access Providers who have officially started work. The ceremony will be held from 10 am in the premises of the House of the Press located on the West Corniche of the capital.

But some specialists do not seem very convinced by the relevance of the project at a time when the mobile telephony and the optical fiber offer developed by the emerging Sonatel Group. Others put in advance the high cost of copper which requires, as we know, a lot of maintenance. Some arguments are not very solid in the eyes of an expert with whom we traded a few hours before the launch and according to which, ADSL and fixed lines still have good days in Senegal because there must be a plurality for the Senegalese.
