Le Soleil – African university games in Mekelle (Ethiopia): Ucad ranked 1st French university

Students at Dakar's Cheikh Anta Diop University returned satisfied with their performances at the 9th African University Games in Mekelle, Ethiopia, from 1 to 7 July.

Around the neck, were hanging 10 medals including 4 in gold, 3 in silver and 3 in bronze. Coming from the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences and the Inseps of Dakar, Ucad university athletes have made their institution the 1st French-speaking university, 5th country among the participants (English and French speaking combined) and 8th out of a total of 47 universities (French and English combined)

Organized by the African Federation of University Sports (Fasu), these 9th games were a great success. The Senegalese delegation was accompanied by the Department of University Life and Community Services.

African Champion at 400m; African champion in the 100m hurdles; African champion in the relay 4X100m ladies; African champion in the relay 4X400m men; vice-champion of Africa in the women's 200m; African runner-up in shot put; vice-champion of Africa in the women's 4X400m; 3rd in the women's 100m; 3rd in the men's discus throw.
