Signed by Mohamed Abdel Vetah, Minister of Oil, Energy and Mines of Mauritania, and Andrew Brown, Executive Director of Shell, this agreement is part of a strategic partnership between the two parties.
With the arrival of Shell, Mauritania is thus linked with four of the largest oil companies in the world, the other three being Exxon Mobil, BP and Total.
With this agreement, the oil giant makes as well as its entry into the West Africa Atlantic Rim.
According to Andrew Brown, Executive Director of Shell, the French firm will bring its expertise and technical know-how to help the development of the emerging energy sector in Mauritania
Note that Shell will soon open an office in Nouakchott and launch its exploration activities.
