Press release: Following the acts of vandalism noted at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FLSH), following the elections of representation of the amicales, the Rector after having condemned these acts informs that the The process of voting followed, upstream, the following steps:

  • Consultation with the various representatives of the heads of lists on the tools and methods of voting, by the Ombudsman, in all the institutions concerned;
  • Consent of all the representatives of the lists in competition, for the outsourcing of the voting operations on the Campusen platform;
  • Establishment of an electoral committee in each establishment, with the representation of lists and coalitions of lists in competition. [19659005] At the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), the process of proclaiming the results of the elections was suspended on April 29, 2018, as a result the fraudulent dissemination of the results, by a screenshot of the results made before the deliberations. Since the Dean has lodged a complaint, investigations are underway to rule on the source of such manipulations tending to discredit the sincerity of the vote.

    At the FLSH, the electoral process was completed and after proclamation results, two coalitions of lists among the four that were in competition, engaged in scenes of violence that resulted in material damage. Two days later, these two coalitions filed an appeal which was emptied by the electoral committee; he considered that the reasons given did not in any way affect the voting process, let alone the results. Accordingly, the Faculty Assembly validated these results at its regular meeting of July 25, 2018.

    At the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management (FASEG) and the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences (FSJP), the This process is ongoing and takes into account the experience of litigation in other institutions.

    The Rector, acting in accordance with the deliberations of the Restricted Council,

    • Whereas the vote is not the subject of the FLSH in particular, no challenge based on proven facts,
    • noting, to deplore the acts of violence committed by various groups of students claiming themselves or not to represent lists or coalitions of lists;
    • recital the report made by the Dean of FLSH concerning these acts of vandalism that have damaged the heritage of the establishment;
    • considering the reports of the Ombudsman of UCAD on the electoral process and the stakes linked to the renewal elections of student unions;

    Takes note of the results thus proclaimed by the electoral committee and validated by the Assembly of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences at its meeting of 25 July 2018.

    In addition, considering the reasons for the suspension of the announcement of the results of the TSP vote resulting from the ongoing investigation, the Rector undertakes to lift the suspension of the process, in collaboration with the Dean and the various actors of this establishment, as soon as circumstances permit.

    The Rector,

    • recalling the fundamental mission of the University which is teaching, research and services to the community;
    • considering the need to enforce the laws and regulations governing the university institution with complete autonomy;

      • continue the electoral process at FASEG and the FSJP;
      • have all formally identified students who are the authors of threats, violence or vandalism brought before the Disciplinary Committee
