In the image of all Senegalese, we, socialist comrades of Me Jacques Baudin have learned, with surprise and sadness, his death occurred on the night of Sunday, November 25, 2018 in Dakar.

As always, the grim reaper hit and triumphed over our mortal bodies made of dust. She who spares no one. She who knows neither youth nor old age, neither wealth nor poverty, neither vigor nor weakness. She who remains unpredictable, incorruptible and laughs at everything. Yes, it has taken us by surprise again and we recognize without question that only the one who is not yet born is not entitled to death. Our grief is great but our joy is also greater because death is only a dark veil. Hope and life remain eternally with the Almighty where our friend Jacques Baudin has just found home.

In the name of the Socialist Party, all generations, with whom you shared the socialist soul pegged to the heart, I offer our heartfelt and sincere condolences to all your family, especially to your remarkable wife Rallou who accompanied you with faith, courage and dignity during your long illness, as well as to the Senegalese nation.
Jacques my brother, because I knew you and rubbed shoulders. I remember your contagious smile, your elegance, your very distinction, your sense of humor, your generosity, your boundless energy and your brilliant intelligence.
You called me Couse. Because our fathers knew and appreciated each other. They were friends. My daughter Fatou Binetou cried with tears because, I remember, she loved you like a father. You told her, as a teenager, that "I reserve my last Tango for your wedding".
Jacques my brother, because apart from partisan camaraderie, you were, in the same mood, a discreet friend, a socialist at heart (socialist student, former Secretary General of the Diourbel Regional Union of the Socialist Party) ), you are one of those politicians who have marked both the political history of the Diourbel region and that of the Socialist Party to which you belonged by the sincerity of your commitment. That is why we are very proud to have walked with a man of your caliber who will remain, for all eternity, a source of inspiration, and for the Socialist Party and for the whole nation, especially its youth.
Member of Parliament and mayor of Diourbel, Magistrate by training, lawyer and jurist emeritus, successively Minister of Tourism and Environment, Minister of Justice, Minister of Justice, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese from outside, he needed character, competence and passion, experience and expertise, to make all this journey with brio and self-sacrifice. The nation thanks you with honors.
My brother Jacques, because in my heart I already sow roses for you. I do not cry to you, because today more than yesterday you remain in our hearts by the exemplarity and the dedication that were your imprints.
Rest in peace, my brother James, and from above pray for us still pilgrims of the land of mortals.

Ousmane Tanor DIENG,
Secretary General of the Socialist Party
