Twenty-six defendants appeared Tuesday, November 27 before the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City to answer for their involvement in the loss of thousands of billions of Dongs caused to Dông A Bank.

More than 300 interested third parties and more than 50 lawyers also took part in this trial at first instance.
Tran Phuong Binh, born in 1959, former General Manager and former Vice Chairman of the Board, former Chairman of the Board of Credit Dông A Bank; and Tran Kim Xuyen, born in 1958, former Deputy Director General of Dông A Bank, are being prosecuted for "appropriation of property by abuse of powers of a public trustee"and"voluntary acts contrary to State regulations on economic management, causing serious consequences".
Two other defendants, Phan Van Anh Vu, born in 1975, chairman of the board of directors of construction joint-stock company Bac Nam 79; and Pham Van Phuoc, born in 1962, former director of the Nam Dinh food stocks company, are being prosecuted for "appropriation of property by abuse of powers of a public trustee".
According to the prosecution, by abusing their powers, Tran Phuong Binh and his accomplices have appropriated more than 2,057 billion Dong, and have voluntarily waived the regulations of the State relating to economic management and thereby caused harm. of more than 1.551 billion Dong, totaling more than 3.608 billion Dong of damage.
So far, Phan Van Anh Vu and Tran Phuong Binh have paid respectively 173 billion Dong and 4 billion Dong to repair the damage to Dông A Bank.
Phan Van Anh Vu was sentenced in late July by the People's Court of Hanoi to 9 years in prison for "voluntary disclosure of state secrets".
