Sergei Wenergold was sentenced to 14 years in prison for the attack against the bus of the footballers of Dortmund.

After a trial lasting eleven months, he was found guilty of attempted murders.

The public prosecutor had demanded perpetuity against him, believing that he intended to kill as many people as possible.

On April 11, 2017, he had placed three bombs filled with iron rods at the edge of the road taken by the bus of Borussia before the match of Champions League against Monaco.

He was hoping for a sharp fall in the club's share price on the stock market, which could, according to the accusation, bring him nearly 500,000 euros.

During his last speech, Sergei Wenergold expressed his regrets and said he wanted to "apologize to everyone".

The investigators first favored the Islamist track, then those of the extreme right and extreme left, before identifying the culprit.

This attack had two wounded : a biker who escorted the German team and the Spanish defender Marc Bartra, touched on the wrist by shards of glass.

He came to the bar to testify that he had been traumatized by this event and that he continued to "suffer".
