EDF: the State will decide "current 2019" of a possible rise to the capital (Philippe)

Paris, Nov. 28, 2018 (AFP) – Édouard Philippe announced on Wednesday that the state, EDF's shareholder at nearly 84%, will decide "in 2019" a possible rise in the capital of the group, once the multi-year programming energy (EPP) has been stopped.

"Given the very strong nuclear dimension of EDF, it is out of the question that the state is an accessory partner," he said on BFMTV and RMC.

The EPP, presented Tuesday by Emmanuel Macron, will have "implications on energy producers, their investments, their organization, their operation," he added.

From there, "we will ask EDF to tell us that since the EPP will be completed, in the next three months, what they deduce on their organization, their trajectory, their needs. we will have a discussion with EDF to know what we derive from it as consequences, "continued the Prime Minister.

"I ask EDF to make us its proposals and we will make the decision in the current 2019 once the EPP will be stopped," he added.

The Minister of Ecological Transition François de Rugy announced Tuesday that the state had asked EDF to make "proposals" on a possible change in its structure.

A possible evolution of the structure of the group has been the subject of speculation for months. The idea would be to enable the company to face the challenges in the nuclear sector while ensuring a boom in renewables. But these scenarios have raised concerns of unions, the CGT fearing including a "dismantling" of the company.
