The management of France Galop has today presented to its Central Social and Economic Committee a project to reorganize its activities in Maisons-Laffitte. This is part of a transformation project initiated in early 2016 that aims to adapt the racing organization model to structural changes in the gaming market and create the conditions for a sustainable recovery. horse betting

The project plans to:

– Resize and modernize the Maisons-Laffitte Training Center thanks to an investment of approximately 1.5 million euros to ensure its durability. While the Training Center is now designed so that 1500 horses can train there simultaneously, less than 500 reside today. Adjustment to its actual level of activity will significantly reduce operating costs. ?

– Stop the "racing" activities on the Maisons-Laffitte racecourse at the end of 2019 (24 days remain on the 2019 calendar).

Since 2011, the races have had to face a profound change in the betting market. In the space of 8 years, the amounts committed on horse betting in France decreased by 1.9 billion. Due to the fall in income from stakes (which represent more than 90% of its financial resources), France Galop has accumulated a deficit of 119 million euros between 2014 and 2017.?

The parent company has initiated a transformation plan, several important milestones have already been completed. The transformation plan continues today with a project to resize and modernize the gallop work tool in France. This project would result in the elimination of 31 positions on the Maisons-Laffitte site. It would be implemented through an Employment Protection Plan (PSE), following the information-consultation procedure of the employee representative bodies. Accompanying measures for employees affected by job cuts will be discussed with the social partners. ?

France Galop will also implement specific means to support a conversion project for the Maisons-Laffitte racecourse site in partnership with the municipality and local stakeholders. (Source France Galop)
