Thiantacounes detained in the case of the double murder of Medinatul Salam have started a hunger strike since yesterday, Monday, November 26, 2018. According to information reached in Senego, one of them has a crisis and would be in a critical state. He was evacuated to the infirmary of the Mac of Thiès.
According to our interlocutor, the prisoner who was brought to the infirmary is called Mohamadou Hann and he was the driver of Cheikh Béthio.
"As you know since Monday we are on hunger strike. Today, Tuesday as we have eaten nothing, around 17h, it has a crisis. These co-detainees immediately took him to the hospital infirmary. We do not know until now what is the state of his health. He was the driver of Sheikh Béthio. He is 40 years old and was not even there at the time. He had 03 wives, and father of 05 children. Now only one of the three wives remains. Both came to seek a divorce in prison ", said one of the prisoners in Senego.
"What we claim, We have said it many times. We do not want a temporary freedom. We do not want a Rebeuss protocol. We just want to be judged through a fair and equitable trial. Mbour's attorney who was supposed to come to see us if we are in good health or not, has flatly neglected us. We are still on hunger strike. And we will move up a gear because we saw no authority, " he warned.
These detainees also say that what hurt them most is that they are aware that a trial in the Criminal Chamber will be held on December 17 in Mbour. Ironically, their names are not on the list of accused. "An abnormal and unfair fact", according to them.
" Long before that, criminal trials were held from September 24 to 26, and we were not included in the list ", have blasted these thiantacounes. And to add that: "We even heard that President Macky Sall wants to wait until after the 2019 presidential election so that our files are emptied".
