Fatick, Nov 28 (APS) – A 57-year-old French woman was killed in the night from Monday to Tuesday at her home in Djiffer, a village of preachers located in the municipality of Palmarin, in the district of Fimela (west) , APS learned from a security source who announces the arrest of an alleged murderer of the woman.

"The victim, who was living alone, was found dead in her home by relatives who alerted the gendarmerie brigade of Fimela who immediately came to report the death," the APS told AFP. security agent.

No trace of blood was found at the scene of the tragedy by the gendarmes, according to the same source, who requested anonymity. "On the other hand, marks that suggest a strangulation were found around the neck of the victim," she said.

A man in his thirties, presumed to be his murderer, was taken into custody at the Fimela gendarmerie brigade, according to the same source.

She says that "in the minutes following the murder of the Frenchwoman", the alleged murderer was driving the private vehicle of the victim, who had just got stuck in the sand of the beach.

"To get out of this difficult situation, the driver called in mechanics, who recognized the vehicle of the victim who had resided in Djiffer for nine years," said the same source.

She adds that "when the news of the French woman's death spread to Djiffer, the mechanics neutralized the young driver of the victim's vehicle, before alerting the gendarmerie".

The body of the victim was sent to Mbour (west), for an autopsy to be performed, to elucidate the causes of his death.

In April 2018, another French sexagenarian was killed by a gang of attackers, in his home in Ndangane Sambou, a tourism and fishing village also located in the district of Fimela. The victim had been living in this village for about twenty years.

The people of Fimela then organized a great march to the sub-prefecture of Fimela, to demand that measures be taken to strengthen the security of the area.
