Gabon wants to acquire a new national airline thirteen (13) years after the liquidation of the defunct Air Gabon. Currently, Afrijet is the only Gabonese airline operating scheduled flights in the sub-region. . Afric Aviation, a private company that has emerged as the country's largest airline, ceased operations in June 2017, disrupted by legal disputes between the various shareholders.
