A Vicat Cement Plant Powered By Solar Electricity

By H. Y., July 12, 2018

Sococim Industries' Senegalese cement plant (Vicat group) commissioned Urbasolar to build a solar power plant with 6.9 MWp of power to provide electricity.

This installation will take place on a site of 14 ha and will incorporate innovations like the piloting of the production of energy (weather analysis, trackers: tracking of the solar race by the photovoltaic panels, thermal hybrid system) and a control center allowing real-time optimization of the plant's electricity consumption. With a production of 14,134 MWh in the first year, this solar power plant will cover 6% of the electricity consumption of the cement plant, which will reduce its carbon footprint by 10,000 t
