The 5th edition of AFRIMA was held in Accra, Ghana on November 24, 2018. The event brought together music stars, dignitaries and music lovers from the African continent who marked the year.
The fact is that no Ivorian artist is on the list of laureates. "Celebrating and rewarding African talents who have shone during the year," is the goal of AFRIMA. Producers, managers, singers, in short, it is the entire musical sector that is celebrated. However, A glance at the winners, we see very quickly the absence of Côte d'Ivoire.
Indeed, no Ivorian received a single prize during this evening of awards of the best artists of the continent. The quality of Ivorian music is therefore questioned. It is the whole Ivorian musical universe that is brushed aside by the hand of the AFRIMA jury. If formerly Abidjan was the capital of African music, today the Ivory Coast is well behind all the countries that came to seek musical notoriety.
Some artists (Safarel Obiang, Kedjevava and Kerozen DJ, Yabongo), recently fill the room Anoumanbo, the largest auditorium in Côte d'Ivoire, but their success remains local. This situation raises the question of the quality of Ivorian music.
