Kenyan Asbel Kiprop, Bahrain Ruth Jebet and Ivan Ukhov of Russia are among 109 athletes or leaders suspended for doping or corruption on Friday by the Athletics Integrity Unit ( IAU)

The IAU, an independent body responsible for integrity and doping issues in the discipline set up in April 2017 following doping and corruption scandals affecting athletics, decided in May to play transparency by revealing in real time on its website the evolution of the current business.

The list now includes the names of 109 athletes or leaders suspended provisionally, those whose case is under investigation or those 120 of the total number of cases completed since April 2017.

IAU had confirmed in May the presence of erythropoietin (EPO) in the urine of Kiprop, thereby rejecting accusations of irregularities spread by the triple world champion and Olympic gold medalist in the 1500m

The cases of Jebet and Ukhov, however, had never been mentioned before. According to IAU, the Olympic champion and world record holder in the 3000m steeplechase was temporarily suspended after the discovery of EPO in her urine.

As for Russian Ukhov, Olympic high jump champion in 2012, he has been pinned following the revelations of the McLaren report on a state doping system organized in his country, suspended by the International Athletics Federation (IAAF) since November 2015.

On the side of the leaders, also appears the name of former Namibian athlete Frankie Fredericks, indicted in France for passive bribery in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Award and suspended from his IAAF Council appointment in August 2017.

A total of 103 international-level athletes are on the list, including 85 Olympic and world medalists.
