Baaba Maal receives the Music in Africa Honorary Award, Thursday

Dakar, Nov 28 (APS) – Artist-musician Baaba Maal, vocal lead of the "Dandé Lenol" orchestra, will be receiving the 2017 Music in Africa Honorary Award at the Goethe Institut in Dakar on Thursday. APS.


The prize, initiated by the Music In Africa Foundation, a pan-African non-profit organization, is awarded each year to a musician from a different African country, a statement said.

The first official ceremony of the Music In Africa Honorary Award was held in Nairobi, Kenya on November 14, 2018. The award was presented to Baaba Maal for the occasion.

"This prestigious award celebrates the brilliant musical career over the last three decades of Baba Maal," reads the statement.
