But what are (really) demanding pilots of RAM?

Several Royal Air Maroc (RAM) flights were canceled and air traffic disrupted this week. The airline accuses the pilots of going on strike. They defend themselves against it and counter it.

Nearly 26 Royal Air Maroc flights have been canceled since the beginning of the discord between the airline and the airline pilots, represented by the Moroccan Association of Airline Pilots (AMPL). In a letter sent to AMPL, RAM CEO Abdelhamid Addou accused them of going on strike. " The RAM has been stagnant for 20 years and its finances are so weak that this strike could cause the cancellation of planned orders for new aircraft and affect the image of the company ", stresses Addou in his letter

This accusation of strike was denied by the AMPL which organized this Monday a meeting with the press. For the AMPL, " the airline pilots perform their missions, namely their flights as provided for in their monthly flight schedules, established by the company Royal Air Maroc and in accordance with the laws and regulations in force "And to add:" no resolution of the decision-making bodies of the AMPL decided at any time, the launching of any strike slogan, subject to the remaining conditions of regulation framed by the labor legislation. "

So how to explain the cancellation of several flights? The AMPL pilots simply decided to " no longer be flexible and do not take off any aircraft if it is not listed on their monthly schedule. Some pilots were solicited for flights outside their working hours and sometimes during weekends " AMPL responds. " The RAM abused the kindness of the pilots and their flexibility. Sometimes, the company does not respect the 48 hours of weekly rest "states an authorized source within AMPL. For her, the problem of cancellations lies with the RAM which schedules several flights without worrying about the conditions of its pilots. This movement of the pilots of the AMPL should continue as long as the RAM does not follow the claims of the AMPL, assure the pilots.

Four main claims

The claim book of the Moroccan Airline Pilots Association has several demands, including four major ones. The first relates to the increase in salaries that the AMPL figures to 15,000 dirhams for pilots and commanders and 10,000 for co-drivers. All spread over three years. To justify this claim, the AMPL evokes a stagnation of wages for 14 years.

The second query concerns the number of " days off ". Currently, each driver is entitled to 48 hours of rest per week and pilots want to increase it and have four more days per month.

The Moroccan association of airline pilots also asks to review the salary scale of RAM Express pilots. The latter receive nearly 30,000 dirhams while the pilots of the RAM receive 50,000 dirhams during the first pay. " The management of the RAM did not want to approach this point with us. For them, the two companies are separate and they are not part of the same entity ", wishes to specify our source.

Finally, the last claim of the AMPL is of social order, especially health and first aid at the airport. " Last year, one of our colleagues lost his life at the airport because the ambulance that was to transport him to the hospital was not well equipped ", regrets our source. [19659012] [ad_2]
