Koffi Olomide, a star of the Congolese song, has canceled two concerts in South Africa, organizers said on Wednesday that a decision was taken following a social media campaign against the convicted artist in France to stay for sexual abuse.

The 60-year-old singer was scheduled to perform on June 28 in Johannesburg and June 30 in Cape Town (southwest).

"The Koffi Olomide concert, scheduled for June 28, 2019, will not be held at the Gallagher Convention Center in Johannesburg, the room said in a statement Wednesday.

The "Shimmy Beach" in Cape Town also said they "made the decision (…) not to host the Koffi Olomide concert".

The two rooms have not advanced explanations. But a #StopKoffiOlomide social media campaign was launched to prevent the singer from performing in South Africa.

In March, the French justice sentenced the singer to two years in prison suspended for sexual abuse on one of his ex-dancers, minor at the time of the facts.

The public prosecutor, who had requested seven in prison, appealed the sentence.

He accuses Koffi Olomide of "sexual assault" on four young women working for him and he sequestrated in a pavilion in the Paris region between 2002 and 2006. The artist was released for three of them, as well as for the head of sequestration.

Koffi Olomide is also under a Zambian arrest warrant for the alleged assault of a photographer in Lusaka in 2012.
