CFAF 15 billion for a fifth cement plant in Cameroon – TELES RELAY

The Cameroonian company Engineering construction manufacturing and trading Ltd. has announced the construction of a cement plant in Ebolowa (South) for a cost of 15 billion FCFA, following an agreement signed with the Agency for the Promotion of (API)

This agreement, which entitles it to customs and tax relief, falls within the framework of the law of 18 April 2013 setting the incentives for private investment in Cameroon.

The arrival of this new operator, whose annual production capacity will be around 500 000 tonnes of cement, will bring to five the total number of cement plants in operation in Cameroon.

These are, among others, Cameroon Cement Works (CIMENCAM), a subsidiary the French group Lafarge-Holcim, which has a production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes of cement a year, Dangote cement Cameroon (DCC) from Nigerian investor Aliko Dangote, whose plant in Douala also t a production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes of cement per year

The other two operators are Ciment d'Afrique (CIMAF) owned by the Moroccan group Addoha which has an annual production capacity of 500 000 tonnes of cement, then the Turks of MEDCEM Cameroun subsidiary of the Eren Holding group whose factory also installed in Douala the economic metropolis like the others, having an annual production capacity of 500 000 tons of cement.
